RIIWHS202E Enter and work in confined spaces

The Confined Space course is designed for participants who could be required to undertake activities that will require them to enter and work in confined spaces.

The course is designed to expose participants who work in and around confined spaces to a broad range of potentially high-risk situations and to correctly implement a safe working procedure. Upon completion of this course, participants will be competent to enter and work in confined spaces using applicable gas detection devices and protective equipment in line with Workplace Health and Safety guidelines.

It requires the performance of work in a safe manner through awareness of risks and work requirements, and the planning and performance of safe work practices with concern for personal safety and the safety of others. The course covers fundamental WHS requirements necessary to undertake work tasks within a confined space. It includes the identification of hazardous environments, including gases, and compliance with legislated work safety practices. The course will discuss the effects of airborne hazards to the body and how to use a gas detector and interpret the readings.

During the course we will assist you to develop safe work method statements and risk assessments and work permits for entering and working in confined spaces. All workers who conduct or supervise tasks whilst at height will find this course beneficial to workplace safety. This course will enable you to comply with current WHS legislation with successful participants receiving a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment.
