Provide First Aid HLTAID003


The First Aid course is for people who do not currently hold a current First Aid credential. This First Aid course provides the skills and knowledge required to provide first aid response, life support, management of casualty(s), the incident and other first aiders and perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines until the arrival of medical or other assistance.

Introduction

Course Delivery
This course is delivered with mixed-mode delivery. A pre-course workbook is to be completed prior to commencing the course with a one day (7 hour) face to face session. All other resources will be provided on the day.

Licencing and Regulations
First Aid accreditation lasts for a period of three years’ and re-accreditation is required before your credentials date of expiry. However, specific licensing /regulatory requirements relating to this competency, including requirements for refresher training should be obtained from the relevant national/state/territory

Work Health and Safety Regulatory Authorities.
In order to receive a certificate, you will also need to provide a Unique Student Identifier (USI) upon enrolment. If you are having difficulty creating or finding your USI you can click on the link http://www.usi.gov.au

Entry Requirements
It is a requirement of the First Aid course that participants are required to COMPLETE A WORKBOOK PRIOR TO ATTENDING the face to face component of training.

The workbook can be collected during business hours from our:

Leeton Office Monday – Friday 8.30 am - 4.00 pm
Griffith Office Monday – Friday 8.30 am - 4.30 pm

If you are unable to attend our office during these hours, please notify the office and one can be mailed. Postage will be charged accordingly, and you will need to ensure that sufficient time is allowed for you to receive the workbook and then to complete it.

Course Requirements
In order for participants to receive an accredited First Aid Certificate, they must be able to demonstrate and be assessed performing CPR for at least 2 minutes of uninterrupted single rescuer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) (5 cycles of both compressions and ventilations) on an adult resuscitation manikin placed on the floor.

They must also be able to perform at least 2 minutes of uninterrupted single rescuer CPR (5 cycles both compressions and ventilations) on an infant resuscitation manikin placed on a firm surface.
