Home Care Specialisation

The CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support (Home Care Specialisation) has become the entry level qualification for a rewarding career in the Home Care industry. Workers are being required to increasingly support people in their homes, support people with increasingly complex needs, to tailor care and support approaches to meet individual needs with increased ‘client’ choice.

This qualification offers individuals an introduction to all aspects of a carers role including personal care, supporting health and wellbeing, assisting people to maintain independence in their home of choice and provide welfare and support systems and activities of daily living. Students will gain a range of factual, technical and procedural knowledge, as well as some theoretical knowledge of the ideas and practices required to provide a person-centred support.

Course Delivery

This course is generally delivered over 56 sessions for 70 weeks. Mixed mode delivery which includes classroom and self-paced learning.

Licencing and Regulations
Nil

Entry Requirements
Students must 17 years of age or above. Students are required to undertake a language, literacy and numeracy assessment and face to face interview prior to enrolment. A current police check and working with children check is required prior to commencement of course. Up to date immunisations including Influenza vaccination is required prior to work placement.

Course Requirements
Students must have a genuine empathetic attitude towards the older, frail or disabled person.
We will supply each student with one shirt at course commencement once the student has paid a fee of $30. It is a compulsory requirement of work placement to be identified as a WRCC student through wearing of the WRCC student work placement shirt.

Local health industry employers will be utilised to provide students with a minimum of 3 weeks of workplace learning and assessment. Clinical placement is mandatory, and students will be required to keep a formal record of a minimum of 120 work placement hours.

This course is subsidised by the NSW Government for eligible students
Student contributions are applicable and range from $1,450 to $1,750
Concession contribution to eligible students $240
