Course Description
The CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing Specialisation) has become the entry level qualification for a rewarding career in the Aged Care industry.
This qualification offers individuals an introduction to all aspects of a carers role including maintaining independence, personal care, supporting health and wellbeing, recognising healthy body systems and activities of daily living. Students will gain a range of factual, technical and procedural knowledge, as well as some theoretical knowledge of the ideas and practices required to provide a person-centred support.
Course Delivery
This course is generally delivered over 56 sessions for 70 weeks. Mixed mode delivery which includes classroom and self-paced learning.
Licencing and Regulations
Nil
Entry Requirements
Students must be 17 years of age or above .Students are required to undertake a language literacy and numeracy assessment and a face to face interview prior to enrolment. Provide a current clear police check for working with vulnerable people in aged or disability services. Evidence of receiving the full COVID vaccination. Note: no residential aged care workplace will accept a student for placement who has not had the COVID vaccination and provided evidence. Students may be required to show evidence of current Flu vaccination.
Course Requirements
Students must have a genuine empathetic attitude towards the older/frail or disabled person. WRCC will supply each student with one (1) shirt at course commencement. Local health industry employers will be utilised to provide students with a minimum of three (3) weeks work placement learning and assessment. Clinical placement is mandatory, and students will be required to keep a formal record of a minimum of 120 work placement hours.
Student Fee
This course is subsidised by the NSW Government for eligible students
Student contributions are applicable and range from $1,450 to $1,750
Concession contribution to eligible students $240. Exemptions apply.
